This is one of the unseen matters he foretold, and it unfolded exactly as he had described (1)—as perfectly aligned as one feather is to another. Such is the Messiah awaited by the Muslims, not the one anticipated by those who have incurred wrath or by the misguided, nor by their renegade Rāfiḍite brethren.
When the Muslims’ awaited Messiah arrives, those who incurred wrath will realize that he is not the son of Joseph the carpenter, nor the child of an illicit union (2); that he was never (3) a brilliant physician who mesmerized minds with his craft, nor a flamboyant sorcerer; and that they were never allowed to crucify, nail, slap, or kill him—for they were far too insignificant in Allah’s sight for such power over him.
Likewise, the misguided will come to know that he is a human being, Allah’s servant and messenger, neither God nor the son of God; that he first proclaimed the coming prophethood of his brother Muhammad and, in the end, will rule by Muhammad’s law and religion; that he is the foe of those who incurred wrath and of the misguided, and the ally of Allah’s Messenger and his believing followers. His friends were never (4) those filthy, impure worshipers of crosses and the painted icons on walls. His only friends are the monotheists who worship the All-Merciful—the people of Islam and true faith—who cleared him and his mother of the slanders hurled at them by their enemies, the Jews, and who declared his Lord, Creator, Owner, and Master free of the blasphemies cast at Him by the (5) polytheists who revile the One God worthy of all worship.
Let us now return to addressing the view of those who claim that the very wording of the scriptures has been altered.
