—slightly dark of complexion, with straight hair and of medium stature, looking as though he were angry. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He replied, “This is Lot.”
Next he opened another compartment and took out a white silk cloth; inside was the image of a fair-skinned man tinged with redness, aquiline-nosed, light-bearded along the cheeks, and handsome. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He said, “This is Isaac.”
Then he opened yet another compartment and brought out a white silk cloth containing the image of a man who resembled Isaac except for a mole on his lower lip. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He said, “This is Jacob.”
He opened another compartment and produced a black silk cloth, and there was the image (1) of a fair-skinned, handsome man with an aquiline nose and fine stature; a light (2) shone upon his face, humility could be read in his features, and his complexion leaned toward redness. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He said, “This is Ishmael, the forefather of your Prophet.”
After that he opened another compartment and drew out a white silk cloth; it held an image that looked like Adam himself, and his face was like the sun. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He said, “This is Joseph.”
Finally he opened another compartment and took out a white silk cloth in which was the image of a reddish-complexioned man with slender shins (3), deep-set eyes, a large belly, of medium height, and wearing a sword across his shoulder. He asked, “Do you recognize this?” We said, “No.” He said, “This is David.”
