Among those unique favors are the following: he was sent to all created beings; with him the register of prophethood was sealed; the Qur’an was revealed to him—a Book from heaven unlike any other and beyond comparison—sent down upon his heart, preserved and recited, with its protection guaranteed until Allah brings about His decree. He was granted concise yet comprehensive speech; he was supported by awe that struck the hearts of his enemies at a distance of a month’s journey; the rows of his community in prayer were patterned after the rows of the angels in heaven; the earth was made for him and for his nation a place of worship and a source of purification. He was taken on the Night Journey beyond the seven heavens, seeing what no human had ever witnessed; he was raised above all the other prophets and made the leader of the children of Adam. His call spread to the farthest east and west, and those who follow his religion outnumber the followers of all the prophets from Noah to Jesus. His community constitutes two-thirds of the people of Paradise. He alone was singled out for al-Wasīla, the highest rank in Paradise, for the Praiseworthy Station that will be envied by the first and the last, and for the Supreme Intercession from which Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus will all withdraw. Through him Allah honored the truth and its people with an honor He had granted to no one before him (1), and He humbled falsehood and its partisans with a humiliation unmatched before his time.
He was endowed with knowledge, courage, and patience (2), with detachment from the world, longing for the Hereafter, inward acts of worship, and divine insights such as no prophet before him had been given. Moreover, one good deed performed by him or by a member of his community is counted as ten like it (3), up to seven hundredfold and even more.
