Twelfth Aspect: In the Psalms attributed to David it is said, “A child will be born to you; I shall be claimed for him as a father and he shall be claimed for Me as a son. O God, send the establisher of the sunnah so that he may teach the people that he is a human being.” (1)
This is a prophecy about both the Messiah and Muhammad ﷺ delivered many centuries before their appearance. The meaning is: Send Muhammad so that he may make it clear to people that the Messiah is a man, not a god; that he is the son of human beings, not the son of the Creator of human beings. Accordingly, God sent the guide of the ummah and the remover of distress, and he set forth to the nations the true status of the Messiah: an honoured servant and a commissioned prophet—contrary to what the Christians claimed about him and to what the Jews alleged against him.
Thirteenth Aspect (2): In the prophecy of Isaiah it reads, “It was said to me: ‘Stand as a watchman; look at what you see and report it.’ (3) I said: ‘I behold two riders approaching—one mounted on a donkey, the other on a camel. One of them says to his companion, “Babylon has fallen, and her idols have been cast into the sea.”’” (4)
The rider on the donkey, according to us and to the Christians alike, is the Messiah (5), while the rider on the camel is Muhammad—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon them both. Muhammad is more renowned for riding a camel than the Messiah is for riding a donkey, and it was by Muhammad ﷺ that the idols of Babylon were toppled, not by the Messiah, for in the region of Babylon idol-worship had persisted since the time of Abraham.
