he had nearly died of thirst, and how God gave him water to drink from a well. It is universally known—by mass transmission and by the agreement of all peoples—that Ishmael was reared in Mecca, and that he and his father Abraham built the Sacred House; hence it is certain that “Fārān” is the land of Mecca.
A similar prophecy is found in the words of Simeon (1), in a passage whose translation they themselves accept and approve: “God came from the mountains of Fārān, and the heavens and the earth were filled with His praise and the praise of His nation” (2).
No one ever emerged from the mountains of Fārān whose praise and whose nation’s praise filled heaven and earth except Muhammad. The Messiah was never in the land of Fārān at all, and Moses was addressed only at Sinai, which is not part of Fārān. True, the wilderness between Mecca and Sinai is sometimes called the Wilderness of Fārān, but God did not send down the Torah there. The Torah’s own prophecy refers to Mount Sinai, while the Gospel’s prophecy refers to Mount Seir.
