Hidāyat al-ḤayārāIbn al-Qayyim

Nothing of this kind is found in the legacy of any prophet before Muhammad ﷺ, still less in something merely cast into the heart of one of the apostles.

He also said, “He will make known to you everything that belongs to the Lord.” Thus he made it clear that he will acquaint people with all that pertains to Allah—His names and attributes, His rights, and the required belief in Him, His angels, His books, and His messengers—an all-embracing teaching that gathers together everything due to the Lord. No one brought such a comprehensive message except Muhammad ﷺ, whose revelation contained both the Book and the Wisdom.

Moreover, Christ said, “When the Paraclete whom my Father will send comes, he will bear witness to me; I have told you this so that when it happens you may believe in him.” (1)

He therefore announced that the Paraclete would testify on his behalf—traits of the prophet Christ foretold, the one who would bear witness to Christ, just as the Almighty says: “And when Jesus son of Mary said, ‘O Children of Israel, I am the messenger of Allah to you, confirming whatever came before me of the Torah and giving glad tidings of a messenger who will come after me whose name is Aḥmad.’” ⦗As-Saff 61:6⦘.

He also declared that the Paraclete would rebuke the world for sin. It is impossible to interpret this as some inner experience arising in the hearts of the disciples, for they had already believed in him and testified to him before his departure. How, then, could he say, “When he comes he will bear witness to me,” and enjoin them to believe in him?

Could anyone claim that the disciples were not believers in Christ? Such a notion is one of the greatest manifestations of Christian ignorance and error!

Moreover, no one has ever rebuked the entire world (2) for its sin except—
