“And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern parts of the land and its western parts, which We had blessed.” (al-Aʿrāf 137)
Those Jews had unanimously denied the Messiah and rejected his prophethood, even though among them were rabbis, devotees, and scholars—until the disciples finally believed in him. If it was possible for the Jews—with all their rabbis, worshippers, ascetics, and others—to agree upon denying the Messiah’s prophethood and disbelieving in him, despite signs of his truth that shone like the sun, then it is likewise possible for them to deny the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ. And it is even more conceivable—indeed, more fitting—that this should happen to a community of misguidance more astray than cattle, namely the Christians.
Thus, the very objection raised by this questioner applies, unchanged, to every prophet whose mission was rejected by a nation.
If the questioner deems all those nations (1) to have been correct, he has disbelieved in every messenger. But if he admits that the prophets were upon truth while those nations—in spite of their numbers and their sound minds—were upon falsehood, then it is all the more certain (2) that the rejecters of Muhammad ﷺ—who are the fewest, the most humiliated, and the basest among these groups—are themselves upon falsehood.
Whichever nation you examine, you will find that the majority of its people affirm Muhammad’s prophethood, while only a small, despicable fringe (3) denies it.
Indeed, the dominion of Islam has spread across the eastern and western horizons to the utmost limit.
