of the community. They have explained to people that the Messiah will descend at the end of time, just as the Dajjāl will emerge at the end of time. Reports to this effect from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, are all authentic and mass-transmitted. They affirm that Jesus, peace be upon him, will descend at the end of time, rule according to the law of Muhammad, peace be upon him, and kill the Dajjāl, the messiah of misguidance.
This is true, as is the emergence of the Dajjāl. As for those who deny this, claiming that the descent of the Messiah, son of Mary, and the existence of the Mahdi signify the emergence of good, while the existence of the Dajjāl, Gog and Magog, and the like signifies the emergence of evil—their views are unsound, indeed utterly false, and ought not even to be mentioned. Their proponents have departed from what is right and made reprehensible and gravely dangerous claims with no basis in revelation, transmitted reports, or reason. We must accept what the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, has said, believe in it, and submit to it. Once a report from the Messenger of Allah is established as authentic, no one may oppose it on the grounds of personal opinion or independent reasoning. Rather, one must submit, as Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says:
“But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in their disputes, then find within themselves no discomfort at what you have decided and submit fully.”
The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, has informed us of these matters concerning the Dajjāl, the Mahdi, and Jesus the Messiah, son of Mary. We must accept what he said, believe it, and guard against making personal opinion the arbiter and against blind imitation, which harms those who practise it and benefits them neither in this world nor in the Hereafter.
I ask Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, to guide everyone to what pleases Him and to grant us all understanding of His religion and steadfastness upon the truth until we meet our Lord, Glorified and Exalted be He. Once again, I thank the esteemed professor for his valuable and comprehensive lecture. I ask Allah to help him complete and perfect it so that it may be printed and circulated for people to benefit from it. May Allah bless His servant and Messenger Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
