⦗9–10⦘ “Indeed, this Quran guides to what is most upright and gives glad tidings to the believers who perform righteous deeds that they will have a great reward, and that for those who do not believe in the Hereafter We have prepared a painful punishment.”
The Exalted declares the Quran’s nobility and majesty, and that it “guides to what is most upright”—that is, to the most just and exalted beliefs, deeds, and morals. “And gives glad tidings to the believers who perform righteous deeds”—both obligatory duties and sunnah practices—“that they will have a great reward,” which Allah has prepared for them in His abode of honor, whose true nature none knows but Him.
“And that for those who do not believe in the Hereafter We have prepared a painful punishment.” Thus, the Quran contains both glad tidings and warnings. It also identifies the grounds for receiving the glad tidings—faith and righteous deeds—and those for deserving the warning, namely their opposite.
