Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(141) Then Allah Most High says, “That was a nation which has passed away. It will have what it earned, and you will have what you earn; and you will not be questioned about what they used to do.”

Its explanation has already been given. Allah repeats it to sever people’s attachment to created beings and to show that what truly matters is what a person himself possesses, not the deeds of his forefathers and ancestors. True benefit comes through deeds, not through mere affiliation with eminent men.
