Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(79) “Have they not seen the birds held in service in the open sky? None holds them aloft except Allah. Surely in that are signs for people who believe.”

That is because they are the ones who benefit from Allah’s signs and reflect on what they signify. As for others, they look merely for amusement and in heedlessness. The sign manifested in the birds is that Allah Most High created them with a form suited to flight, then subjected this subtle air to their use and endowed them with the power of movement and the abilities by which they can fly. This is evidence of His perfect wisdom, His vast knowledge, His divine care for all His creatures, and His perfect power. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds.
