Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(38) “Our Lord, You surely know what we conceal and what we reveal.”

That is: You know us better than we know ourselves. We therefore ask You, as part of Your governance and nurturing care for us, to make easy for us—in matters we know and those we do not know—whatever accords with Your knowledge and mercy. “Nothing whatsoever is hidden from Allah on earth or in heaven.” This includes this supplication, by which Abraham, the intimate friend of Allah, sought only goodness and abundant gratitude to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
