Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(26) “Allah grants abundant provision to whom He wills and restricts it. They rejoice in the life of this world, although the life of this world, compared with the Hereafter, is nothing but a fleeting enjoyment.”

That is, He alone grants abundant provision to whom He wills and restricts and limits it for whom He wills. “They rejoice”—meaning the disbelievers—“in the life of this world” with such delight that it leads them to become content with it and heedless of the Hereafter. This is due to their deficient understanding. “The life of this world, compared with the Hereafter, is nothing but a fleeting enjoyment”—that is, something paltry, enjoyed only briefly, which then parts from those devoted and attached to it and leaves them to prolonged misery.
