(8–11) “Allah knows what every female bears, how much the wombs diminish, and how much they increase. Everything with Him is according to a precise measure. He is the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Great, the Most Exalted. It is all the same whether one of you conceals his words or voices them openly, and whether one is hidden by night or in hiding by day. He has successive guardians before him and behind him, guarding him by Allah’s command. Indeed, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. When Allah wills harm for a people, none can avert it, and they have no protector besides Him.”
Allah Most High informs us of the all-encompassing nature of His knowledge, the vastness of His awareness, and His encompassing all things. He says: “Allah knows what every female bears,” whether human or otherwise, “and how much the wombs diminish”—that is, whatever decreases from what is within them, whether the fetus perishes, becomes smaller, or wastes away—“and how much they increase,” as the wombs expand and the fetuses within them grow. “Everything with Him is according to a precise measure.” Nothing precedes or lags behind its appointed measure, nor does it increase or decrease, except as His wisdom and knowledge require.
For He is “the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Great” in His Essence, names, and attributes, “the Most Exalted” above all His creation in His Essence, power, and irresistible dominion.
In relation to His knowledge, hearing, and sight, “it is all the same whether one of you” “conceals his words or voices them openly, and whether one is hidden by night”—that is, remains in a concealed place at night—“or is in hiding by day”—that is, inside his hiding place during the day. A hiding place is somewhere a person conceals himself, such as the interior of his house, a cave, a cavern, or the like.
