(102) “That is from the accounts of the unseen which We reveal to you. You were not with them when they resolved upon their plan while they were plotting.”
After Allah had related this story to Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—He said to him: “That”—the account We have told you—“is from the accounts of the unseen.” Had We not revealed it to you, this momentous account would never have reached you, for you were not present with them “when they resolved upon their plan”—that is, Joseph’s brothers—“while they were plotting” against him, when they conspired to separate him from his father. This took place under circumstances known to Allah alone, and no one could acquire knowledge of them unless Allah taught it to him.
Likewise, after relating the story of Moses and what befell him, Allah mentioned circumstances that created beings could know only through His revelation: “You were not on the western side when We entrusted the command to Moses, nor were you among the witnesses,” and the following verses. This is the clearest proof that what the Messenger of Allah brought is the truth.
