(89) Allah Most High said, “Your prayer has been answered.” This proves that Moses [was] supplicating while Aaron affirmed his supplication by saying Amen, and that whoever says Amen shares with the supplicant in that prayer.
“So remain steadfast” in your religion and continue your call, “and do not follow the way of those who do not know.” That is, do not follow the way of the ignorant and misguided, who deviate from the straight path and follow the roads leading to Hell.
Allah then commanded Moses to take the Children of Israel away by night and informed him that they would be pursued. Pharaoh sent mustering agents throughout the cities, proclaiming, “These”—meaning Moses and his people—“are only a small band, and they have truly enraged us, but we are all vigilant.”
He therefore assembled all his troops, those near and far, and pursued them with his forces in tyranny and enmity—that is, they set out transgressing against Moses and his people and committing aggression in the land. When tyranny intensifies and sin becomes firmly entrenched, then await the punishment.
