(85) “So they said,” complying with his command, “In Allah we have placed our trust. Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people.” That is, do not give them power over us, lest they persecute us; nor allow them to defeat us, lest this lead them astray and they say, “Had they been upon the truth, they would not have been defeated.”
