Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(45) “On the Day He gathers them, it will be as though they had remained only an hour of the day, recognizing one another. Those who denied the meeting with Allah will indeed have lost, for they were not rightly guided.”

Allah Most High informs us how swiftly this world passes away. When Allah Most High gathers mankind for a Day about which there is no doubt, it will be as though they had remained only an hour of the day and had experienced neither comfort nor hardship. They will recognize one another, just as they did in this world. On that Day, the pious will prosper, while those who denied the meeting with Allah and were not guided to the straight path and the upright religion will lose, having missed out on bliss and deserved entry into the Fire.
