Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

“Then, after that, ⦗333⦘ Allah turns in mercy to whom He wills. Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

“Then, after that, Allah turns in mercy to whom He wills.” Thus Allah turned in mercy to many of those who had suffered defeat. They came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) as Muslims in repentance, and he returned their women and children to them.

“Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful”: that is, His forgiveness is vast and His mercy encompasses all. He pardons the gravest sins of those who repent and shows them mercy by enabling them to repent and obey Him, overlooking their offenses, and accepting their repentance. Therefore, no one should ever despair of His forgiveness and mercy, no matter what sins and crimes he has committed.
