“Their Lord gives them glad tidings of mercy from Him, His pleasure, and Gardens in which they will have everlasting bliss, abiding therein forever. Indeed, with Allah is a tremendous reward.”
“Their Lord gives them glad tidings,” as an act of bounty, generosity, and kindness toward them, and out of His care and love for them, “of mercy from Him,” by which He removed all evils from them and brought them [through it] every good; and “His pleasure” with them, which is the greatest and most sublime bliss of Paradise. He bestows His pleasure upon them and will never again be displeased with them.
“And Gardens in which they will have everlasting bliss,” comprising everything souls desire and eyes delight in, whose nature and extent are known only to Allah Most High. Part of this bliss is that Allah has prepared one hundred levels for those who strive in His way, the distance between every two levels being like the distance between heaven and earth. Were all creation gathered into a single one of them, it would contain them all.
“Abiding therein forever”: they will never leave them, nor will they desire any transfer away from them. “Indeed, with Allah is a tremendous reward.” Its abundance should not be deemed extraordinary in view of Allah’s bounty, nor should its greatness and excellence be considered astonishing from the One who says to a thing, “Be,” and it is.
