﴿103–171﴾ “Then, after them, We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs.”
Through to the end of his story (1).
That is, after those messengers, We sent Moses—the one to whom Allah spoke, the eminent leader and noble messenger—to a people of insolent tyrants: Pharaoh and his chiefs, their nobles and dignitaries. He showed them mighty signs of Allah, the like of which had never been witnessed. “But they wrongfully rejected them,” refusing to submit to what those signs rightfully demanded—for whoever refuses to submit to it is a wrongdoer. Rather, they arrogantly rejected them. “So behold what became of the corrupters”: how Allah destroyed them and caused condemnation and the curse to pursue them in this world and on the Day of Resurrection. Wretched indeed was the gift bestowed! This is the account in summary, which He then details in His words:
“And Moses said,” when he came to Pharaoh and called him to faith:
“O Pharaoh, I am indeed a messenger from the Lord of all worlds.” That is, I am a messenger sent by One of supreme greatness: the Lord of all worlds, encompassing the higher and lower realms, who nurtures all His creation through every form of divine governance. Part of that governance is that He does not leave them without guidance; rather, He sends them messengers bearing glad tidings and warnings. He is the One against whom no one could dare to claim that He had sent him when He had not.
