(10) “We have certainly established you on earth and provided you with means of livelihood therein. Yet how little thanks you give.”

The Exalted says, reminding His servants of His favor by mentioning their dwelling place and means of subsistence: “We have certainly established you on earth”; that is, We prepared it for you so that you could build upon it, cultivate it, and benefit from it in various ways. “And provided you with means of livelihood therein,” including what comes forth from trees and plants, the earth’s minerals, and the various crafts and trades. Indeed, it is He who prepared these things and made their means available.

“Yet how little thanks you give” to Allah, who has bestowed all manner of blessings upon you and averted afflictions from you.
