That is, whoever denies the meeting with Allah has indeed failed, suffered loss, and been deprived of every good. This denial emboldened him to violate prohibitions and commit ruinous sins, “until, when the Hour comes upon them” while they are in the foulest and worst of states, they will express the utmost regret. “They will say, ‘Alas for us that we neglected it!’” But this remorse will come too late. “While bearing their burdens upon their backs. How evil is the burden they bear!” Their burden will weigh heavily upon them, and they will be unable to rid themselves of it. They will therefore abide forever in the Fire and deserve to remain eternally under the wrath of the Almighty.
﴿32﴾ “The life of this world is nothing but play and amusement, while the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah. Will you not then understand?”
This is the true nature of this world and of the Hereafter. As for the true nature of this world, it is play and amusement: play for the bodies and amusement for the hearts. Hearts are infatuated with it, souls are enamored of it, concerns remain bound up with it, and preoccupation with it is like children’s play.
