Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

“Even if they were sent back, they would certainly return to what they had been forbidden, for they are indeed liars. * And they said”—denying the resurrection—“There is nothing but our life in this world”; that is, the reality of our condition, the whole affair, and the sole purpose for which we were brought into existence is this worldly life alone, “and we will not be resurrected.” ﴿30﴾ “If only you could see when they are made to stand before their Lord! He will say, ‘Is this not the truth?’ They will reply, ‘Yes indeed, by our Lord!’ He will say, ‘Then taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve.’”
