Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

“Had We made him an angel, We would certainly have made him appear as a man, and We would have left them confused by the very confusion they create.”

“Had We made him an angel, We would certainly have made him appear as a man,” because wisdom dictates nothing else. “And We would have left them confused by the very confusion they create.” That is, the matter would have remained confused and obscured to them because of the confusion they had brought upon themselves. They had based their position on this premise, which itself creates confusion and prevents the truth from being made clear.
