(133, 134) “If He wills, He can do away with you, O humanity, and bring others in your place. Allah is fully capable of doing so. * Whoever desires the reward of this world should know that with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.”
That is, He is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy, possessed of perfect power and an irresistible will concerning you: “If He wills, He can do away with you, O humanity, and bring others in your place”—others who are more obedient to Allah and better than you. This contains a warning to people for persisting in disbelief and turning away from their Lord. Allah has no need of them whatsoever if they do not obey Him. Yet He grants respite and allows them time, but He does not neglect them.
He then states that whoever has base ambitions and desires that extend no further than the reward of this world, with no desire for the Hereafter, has restricted both his endeavor and his outlook. Even then, he will obtain no more of this world’s reward than what Allah has decreed for him. Allah Most High is the Sovereign of all things, and with Him lies the reward of this world and the Hereafter. Both should therefore be sought from Him, and His aid should be sought in attaining them. What is with Him can be attained only through obedience to Him, and neither religious nor worldly ends can be achieved except by seeking His aid and remaining constantly dependent upon Him.
To Him belongs perfect wisdom in granting success to whomever He grants it, forsaking whomever He forsakes, giving and withholding. He therefore says, “Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.”
