“Indeed, this is the true account. There is no deity except Allah, and indeed Allah—He alone is the Almighty, the All-Wise. * But if they turn away, then surely Allah knows the corrupters.”
“If they turn away, then surely Allah knows the corrupters,” and He will punish them most severely for that. The Most High declares that “this”—what Allah has related to His servants—is “the true account,” while every account related to them that contradicts and conflicts with it is false. “There is no deity except Allah”: He alone is the true God, rightly worshipped; worship is due to Him alone, and no one besides Him deserves even an atom’s weight of worship. “Indeed, Allah—He alone is the Almighty,” who has subdued all things and to whom all things submit; “the All-Wise,” who places everything in its proper place. His wisdom is perfect in testing the believers through the disbelievers, whom they fight, debate, and strive against in word and deed (1).
