Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(13–19) “Indeed, the righteous will surely be in bliss, * while the wicked will surely be in the Blazing Fire. * They will burn therein on the Day of Recompense, * and they will never be absent from it. * What can make you comprehend what the Day of Recompense is? * Again, what can make you comprehend what the Day of Recompense is? * It is the Day when no soul will have power to do anything for another, and all authority that Day will belong to Allah.”

The righteous are those who fulfill the rights of Allah and the rights of His servants, steadfastly practicing righteousness in the deeds of their hearts and the actions of their limbs. Their reward is bliss of heart, soul, and body in this world, [in the realm of] the intermediate life, and [in] the everlasting abode.

“While the wicked”—those who fall short in fulfilling the rights of Allah and the rights of His servants, whose hearts become depraved and whose deeds consequently become depraved—“will surely be in the Blazing Fire”; that is, a painful punishment in this world, the [realm of] the intermediate life, and the everlasting abode.

“They will burn therein” and be subjected [through it] to the severest punishment “on the Day of Recompense”; that is, the day on which deeds will be requited.

“And they will never be absent from it”; rather, they will remain there continually and never emerge from it.

“What can make you comprehend what the Day of Recompense is? Again, what can make you comprehend what the Day of Recompense is?” This magnifies the dread of that terrible Day, which will leave minds bewildered.

“It is the Day when no soul will have power to do anything for another,” even if the latter is its close relative [or beloved one] and sincerely devoted to it. Every soul will be preoccupied with itself and will seek deliverance for no other. “And all authority that Day will belong to Allah.” He will judge between His servants and secure for the oppressed their rights from those who wronged them. Commentary on Sūrat al-Mutaffifīn

It is Meccan.

﴿١٣ - ١٩﴾ ﴿إِنَّ الأبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ * وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ * يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ * وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ * وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ * ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ * يَوْمَ لا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا وَالأمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ﴾ . المراد بالأبرار، القائمون بحقوق الله وحقوق عباده، الملازمون للبر، في أعمال القلوب وأعمال الجوارح، فهؤلاء جزاؤهم النعيم في القلب والروح والبدن، في دار الدنيا [وفي دار] البرزخ و [في] دار القرار. ﴿وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ﴾ الذين قصروا في حقوق الله وحقوق عباده، الذين فجرت قلوبهم ففجرت أعمالهم ﴿لَفِي جَحِيمٍ﴾ أي: عذاب أليم، في دار الدنيا و [دار] البرزخ وفي دار القرار. ﴿يَصْلَوْنَهَا﴾ ويعذبون [بها] أشد العذاب ﴿يَوْمَ الدِّينِ﴾ أي: يوم الجزاء على الأعمال. ﴿وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ﴾ أي: بل هم ملازمون لها، لا يخرجون منها. ﴿وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ﴾ ففي هذا تهويل لذلك اليوم الشديد الذي يحير الأذهان. ﴿يَوْمَ لا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا﴾ ولو كانت لها قريبة [أو حبيبة] مصافية، فكل مشتغل بنفسه لا يطلب الفكاك لغيرها. ﴿وَالأمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ﴾ فهو الذي يفصل بين العباد، ويأخذ للمظلوم حقه من ظالمه [والله أعلم]⦗٩١٥⦘ تفسير سورة المطففين وهي مكية
