(28) He then presented them with a rational proof against their position and for their resurrection: the proof from the initial creation. He said: โWe created themโโthat is, We brought them into existence from nothingโโand strengthened their frameโโthat is, We fashioned them firmly with nerves, veins, tendons, and outward and inward faculties, until the body was complete and fully formed, enabling them to do whatever they wished. The One who brought them into existence in this state is therefore able to restore them after death for their recompense. And it is not fitting that the One who carried them through these stages in this worldly abode should leave them without purposeโneither commanding nor forbidding them, and neither rewarding nor punishing them.
Thus He said: โWe shall replace them with their counterparts entirelyโโthat is, We shall bring you into being in another creation for the Resurrection and restore you in your very persons; their counterparts will be none other than they themselves.
โIndeed, this is a reminderโโthat is, the believer takes heed through it and benefits from the warnings and encouragement it contains. โSo whoever wills may take a path to his Lordโโthat is, a path leading to Him. Allah makes the truth and guidance clear, then gives people the choice between following that guidance and turning away from it, after the proof has been established against them (1). โYet you do not will unless Allah wills,โ for Allahโs will is always carried out. โIndeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.โ His is the wisdom in guiding those who are guided and leading astray those who go astray.
โHe admits whomever He wills into His mercy,โ singling him out for His care, granting him success in pursuing the means to happiness, and guiding him to its paths. โAnd the wrongdoersโโthose who chose wretchedness over guidanceโโHe has prepared for them a painful punishmentโ [because of their wrongdoing and transgression].
