(12) “Indeed, those who fear their Lord in secret will have forgiveness and a great reward.”
After mentioning the state of the wretched evildoers, He mentioned the state of the blessed and righteous (1), saying: “Indeed, those who fear their Lord in secret”—that is, in all circumstances, even when none but Allah sees them. Thus, they do not venture to disobey Him or fall short in what He has commanded (2). “They will have forgiveness” for their sins. When Allah forgives their sins, He protects them from their evil consequences and from the punishment of Hell. They will also have a great reward: what He has prepared for them in Paradise—everlasting bliss, a vast kingdom, [unending] pleasures, all that they desire, lofty palaces [and dwellings], beautiful maidens, servants, and youthful attendants.
Greater and more magnificent than all of that is the pleasure of the Most Merciful, which Allah bestows upon the inhabitants of Paradise. (3)
