(12) “It is Allah who created seven heavens and, of the earth, their like. His command descends among them so that you may know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge.”
[Then] He [Most High] informs us that He created all creation: the seven heavens and whoever is in them, the seven earths and whoever is in them, and all that lies between them. He sent down His command, namely the religious laws and rulings that He revealed to His messengers to remind and admonish His servants, as well as the cosmic and divinely decreed commands by which He governs creation. All of this is so that His servants may know Him and understand that His power encompasses all things and His knowledge encompasses everything. When they know Him by His holy attributes and most beautiful names, worship and love Him, and fulfil His rights, they attain the intended purpose of creation and command: knowing and worshipping Allah. Those among Allah’s righteous servants who were granted success fulfilled this purpose, while the wrongdoing rejectors turned away from it.
