(26–28) “Everyone upon it will perish, * but the Face of your Lord, Possessor of Majesty and Honor, will remain. * Which, then, of your Lord’s favors will you both deny?”
That is, everyone on earth—human beings, jinn, animals, and all other creatures—will perish, die, and cease to exist. But the Ever-Living, who never dies, will remain: “Possessor of Majesty and Honor.” That is, He possesses grandeur, greatness, and glory, for which He is magnified, revered, and venerated. As for honor, it signifies the vastness of His grace and generosity, which entails His honoring His allies and the elect among His creation with every kind of honor. His allies honor and revere Him, [magnify Him], love Him, turn to Him in devotion, and worship Him. “Which, then, of your Lord’s favors will you both deny?”
