Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(6–8) “So turn away from them. On the Day the Caller calls to something horrifying...”

Allah, Exalted is He, says to His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: It has become clear that there is no way to guide the deniers. Nothing therefore remains but to turn away from them and leave them. [He therefore says:] “So turn away from them,” and await for them a momentous day and a terrible ordeal. That will be when “the Caller”—Isrāfīl, peace be upon him—“calls to something horrifying”; that is, to a dreadful event that all creation will find appalling, for it will never have beheld a sight more horrific or distressing. Isrāfīl will then blow a blast by which the dead will emerge from their graves for the standing on the Day of Resurrection.
