(41–42) “And in Ād, when We sent against them the barren wind. * It left nothing it came upon without reducing it to disintegrated ruins.”
That is, in Ād—the well-known tribe—was a great sign (1): “when We sent against them the barren wind,” meaning a wind in which there was no good, after they denied their prophet Hūd, peace be upon him.
“It left nothing it came upon without reducing it to disintegrated ruins.” That is, to decayed remnants. The fact that He destroyed them despite their strength and might is proof of [the perfection of] His power and omnipotence. Nothing can thwart Him, and He exacts vengeance upon those who disobey Him.
(1) In B, the wording of this passage is transposed.
