(22–23) “Had the disbelievers fought you, they would certainly have turned their backs in flight; then they would have found neither protector nor helper. * This is Allah’s established way, which has prevailed before; and you will find no change in Allah’s established way.”

This is glad tidings from Allah to His believing servants that He will grant them victory over their disbelieving enemies: if they were to confront and fight them, “they would certainly have turned their backs in flight; then they would have found neither protector” to take charge of their affairs, “nor helper” to support and assist them in fighting you. Rather, they would be forsaken and defeated. This is Allah’s established way among the nations of the past: Allah’s forces are always victorious, “and you will find no change in Allah’s established way.”
