⦗14⦘ “Can one who stands upon clear proof from his Lord be like those whose evil deeds have been made appealing to them and who follow their desires?”
That is, one who has clear insight into matters of religion, in both knowledge and practice—who has recognized the truth and followed it, and hopes for what Allah has promised the people of truth—is not equal to one whose heart is blind, who has rejected the truth and lost it, and who follows his desires without guidance from Allah. Yet despite this, he believes that what he follows is the truth. How vast is the difference between the two groups! How great is the disparity between the two parties: the people of truth and the people of error! (1).
