(38–42) “We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in play. * We created them only in truth, but most of them do not know. *”

Allah Most High informs us of the perfection of His power and the consummateness of His wisdom. He did not create the heavens and the earth in play or amusement, nor aimlessly and without purpose. Rather, He created them only in truth—that is, the very act of creating them was founded upon truth, and their creation encompasses truth. He brought them into being so that He alone, without partner, might be worshipped, and so that He might command and forbid His servants, reward them, and punish them. “But most of them do not know,” and therefore they do not reflect upon the creation of the heavens and the earth.
