“And doors for their houses, and couches upon which they recline, and ornaments of gold. Yet all of that is merely the enjoyment of worldly life, while the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.”
“And doors for their houses, and couches upon which they recline”—all made of silver. He would also have granted them “ornaments of gold”; that is, He would have adorned their worldly lives with every kind of embellishment and given them whatever they desired. Yet His mercy toward His servants prevented Him from doing so, out of concern that love of this world would cause them to hasten into disbelief and commit many sins.
This proves that Allah may withhold certain worldly things from His servants—either from everyone or from particular individuals—for their own benefit; that this world does not weigh as much as a mosquito’s wing in Allah’s sight; and that all the things mentioned are but the enjoyment of worldly life—troubled, tainted, and fleeting. The Hereafter with Allah Most High is better for those who fear their Lord by obeying His commands ⦗766⦘ and avoiding His prohibitions, for its bliss is perfect and complete in every respect. In Paradise is whatever souls desire and eyes delight in, and they will abide there forever. How vast, then, is the difference between the two abodes!”
