(29) “And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and whatever living creatures He has dispersed throughout them. He is fully capable of gathering them whenever He wills.”
That is, among the proofs of His immense power and of the fact that He will bring the dead back to life is “the creation of the heavens and the earth.” Despite their immensity and vastness, their creation demonstrates His power and the vast extent of His authority. Their perfection and precision demonstrate His wisdom, while the benefits and advantages they contain demonstrate His mercy. All this proves that He alone deserves every form of worship and that the divinity of everything besides Him is false.
“And whatever He has dispersed throughout them”—that is, the various kinds of living creatures He has spread throughout the heavens and the earth, which Allah has made a source of benefit and advantage for His servants. “He is fully capable of gathering them”—that is, gathering creation after their death at the standing of the Resurrection—“whenever He wills.” His power and will are fully capable of bringing this about; confirmation that it will occur therefore depends only on a truthful report, and it is known that the messengers and their scriptures have repeatedly and unanimously affirmed its occurrence.
