“And among His signs is that you see the earth barren; then, when We send down rain upon it, it stirs and swells. Surely the One who gives it life will indeed give life to the dead. He is truly Most Capable of all things.”
“And among His signs,” which demonstrate the perfection of His power, His sole possession of all sovereignty and governance, and His oneness, “is that you see the earth barren”—that is, devoid of vegetation. “Then, when We send down rain upon it”—meaning rainfall—“it stirs,” as vegetation begins to grow, “and swells”; then it produces every delightful kind of plant, by which He gives life to people and lands.
“Surely the One who gives it life” after it was dead and dormant “will indeed give life to the dead,” bringing them forth from their graves on the Day of their resurrection and emergence. “He is truly Most Capable of all things.” Just as His power is not incapable of reviving the earth after its death, neither is it incapable of bringing the dead back to life.
