(79–81) “It is Allah who made livestock for you, so that you may ride some of them and eat from others. * You also derive other benefits from them, and through them you may reach destinations you have in mind. Upon them and upon ships you are carried. * And He shows you His signs. Which of Allah’s signs, then, do you deny?”
The Exalted reminds His servants of His favor in providing them with livestock, through which He has bestowed many blessings:
Among them are the benefits of riding them and carrying loads upon them.
Among them are the benefits of eating their meat and drinking their milk.
Among them are the benefits of warmth and of making implements and furnishings from their wool, fur, and hair, in addition to many other benefits.
“Through them you may reach destinations you have in mind,” such as reaching distant lands and experiencing the happiness and joy of being among their people. “Upon them and upon ships you are carried.” That is, Allah carries you upon land mounts and seafaring vessels. It is He who subjected them to your service and provided all the means without which they could not serve their purpose.
“And He shows you His signs,” which point to His oneness, His names, and His attributes. This is one of His greatest blessings: He has shown His servants His signs within themselves and upon the horizons, as well as His magnificent favors, enumerating them for their benefit so that they may know Him, thank Him, and remember Him.
