(66–68) “Say, ‘I have been forbidden to worship those whom you call upon besides Allah, now that clear proofs have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all worlds.’”
After commanding that worship be devoted sincerely to Allah alone and mentioning the proofs and clear evidence for this, He explicitly prohibited the worship of anything besides Him, saying: “Say,” O Prophet, “I have been forbidden to worship those whom you call upon besides Allah”—including idols, carved images, and everything worshipped besides Allah.
I have no doubt about the path I follow; rather, I possess certainty and clear insight. Thus He said: “Now that clear proofs have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all worlds” with my heart, tongue, and limbs, so that they are compliant in obeying Him and fully surrendered to His command. This is the greatest of all commands, just as the prohibition against worshipping anything besides Him is the greatest of all prohibitions.
