Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(60) “Your Lord has said, ‘Call upon Me, and I will answer you. Those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell in utter humiliation.’”

This is part of His kindness toward His servants and His immense favor to them: He calls them to that which will set right their religious and worldly affairs, commands them to call upon Him—both through worship and by asking Him for their needs—and promises to answer them. He then warns those who are too proud to worship Him, saying:

“Those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell in utter humiliation”—that is, abased and contemptible, suffering both punishment ⦗741⦘ and disgrace as recompense for their arrogance.
