(4) “Had Allah willed to take a son, He could have chosen whomever He willed from among His creation. Glory be to Him! He is Allah, the One, the All-Subduing.”
That is: “Had Allah willed to take a son,” as some of the foolish among creation claim, “He could have chosen whomever He willed from among His creation.” In other words, He could have chosen whichever of His creatures He willed, singled him out for Himself, and granted him the status of a son, without any need to take a consort.
“Glory be to Him”—He is far above what the disbelievers imagine about Him and what the heretics attribute to Him.
“He is Allah, the One, the All-Subduing.” That is, He is One in His essence, His names, His attributes, and His actions. He has neither likeness nor equal in any of these respects. Were He to have a son, this would entail that the son resemble Him in His oneness, since a son is part and portion of his father.
He is the All-Subduing over the entire upper and lower realms. Were He to have a son, that son would not be subdued, but could presume upon his father and would possess an affinity with Him.
His oneness, Most High, and His subjugation of all things are inseparable: the One can only be All-Subduing, and the All-Subduing can only be One. This excludes every form of partnership with Him.
