Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(164–166) “There is none among us but has a known station. Indeed, we are those who stand in rows, and indeed, we are those who glorify Allah.”

This [contains] a declaration that the angels—peace be upon them—are innocent of what the polytheists have said about them, and that they are servants of Allah who do not disobey Him even for the blink of an eye. Every one of them has a station and a duty assigned to him by Allah, which he neither oversteps nor exceeds. They have no share whatsoever in the command.

“Indeed, we are those who stand in rows,” in obedience and service to Allah.

“And indeed, we are those who glorify Allah,” declaring Him exalted above all that is unbefitting of Him. How, then, could they be fit to serve as partners with Allah? Exalted is Allah!
