(123–132) “Elijah was indeed one of the messengers, when he said to his people, ‘Will you not fear Allah? Do you call upon Baal and forsake the Best of creators—Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?’”
Allah Most High praises His servant and messenger Elijah, peace be upon him, for his prophethood, his divine mission, and his call to Allah. Elijah commanded his people to fear Allah and worship Him alone, and forbade them to worship an idol of theirs called Baal while abandoning the worship of Allah, who created all creatures and perfected their creation, nurtured them in the finest manner, and lavished upon them blessings both outward and inward. How could they abandon the worship of One whose attributes are such for the worship of an idol that can neither harm nor benefit, neither create nor provide, and indeed can neither eat nor speak? “Is this anything but one of the gravest forms of misguidance, folly, and waywardness?”
