“And We made his descendants the sole survivors, and left for him an honorable remembrance among later generations: ‘Peace be upon Noah throughout the worlds.’ Thus indeed do We reward those who excel in good. He was truly one of Our believing servants. Then We drowned the others.”
Allah drowned all the disbelievers and preserved Noah’s lineage and descendants through successive generations. Thus, all people are descended from Noah (peace be upon him). He also granted him enduring praise among later generations. This was because Noah excelled in worshiping the Creator and in doing good to creation. Such is Allah Most High’s established way with those who excel in good: He spreads praise of them in proportion to their excellence.
The words, “He was truly one of Our believing servants,” indicate that faith is the highest station attained by Allah’s servants and that it encompasses all the teachings of the religion, both its fundamentals and its branches, for Allah praised the most distinguished of His creation for possessing it.
