Tafsir al-SadiAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

(75–82) “Noah had certainly called upon Us, and how excellent are We in answering! We saved him and his family from the great distress.”

Allah Most High informs us about His servant and messenger Noah (peace be upon him), the first of the messengers. After he had called his people to Allah for that long period, only for his call to make them flee even further, he called upon his Lord, saying: “My Lord, do not leave a single disbeliever dwelling on the earth”—to the end of the verse.

He also said: “My Lord, help me against the people who spread corruption.” Allah answered him and praised Himself, saying: “How excellent are We in answering!” He answers those who call upon Him and hears their devoted worship and humble supplication. He answered Noah exactly as he had asked, saving him and his family from the great distress.
