(71–73) “Do they not see that We created for them, from what Our Hands have made, livestock which they possess? * We have subjected these animals to them: some serve as their mounts, and some they eat. * They also derive benefits and drinks from them. Will they not then give thanks?”
Allah Most High commands His servants to reflect upon the livestock He has placed at their service and made docile to them, placing the animals in their ownership and making them compliant in everything they require of them. He has granted them many benefits through these animals: they carry them, their heavy loads, their litters, and their belongings from place to place; they provide them with food and warmth; and their camel hair, goat hair, and wool furnish them with household goods and useful provisions for a time. They also provide adornment and beauty, along with the many other readily observable benefits they afford.
“Will they not then give thanks” to Allah Most High, who has blessed them with these blessings, devote their worship sincerely to Him, and refrain from enjoying them without drawing lessons or reflecting?
