“If Allah were to take people to account for what they have earned, He would not leave a single creature upon its surface. But He defers them until an appointed term; and when their term comes, Allah is indeed All-Seeing of His servants.”
Allah Most High then mentions His perfect forbearance and the great respite and reprieve He grants to those who commit crimes and sins. He says: “If Allah were to take people to account for what they have earned” of sins, “He would not leave a single creature upon its surface.” That is, the punishment would encompass even animals that are not morally accountable.
“But” Allah Most High grants them respite and does not neglect them, and “He defers them until an appointed term; and when their term comes, Allah is indeed All-Seeing of His servants.” He will recompense them according to what He knows of the good and evil they have done.
